The new town hall a transparent landmark in Høje-Taastrup
While the 8 floors plus roof terrace and basement of the new town hall constitute a landmark in Høje-Taastrup, the roof garden provides a 360-degree view of the city. The transparent facade is architecturally striking and inviting, and the equally transparent office environment reflects the collaborative and democratic processes encapsulated in this welcoming municipal house.
ELEGANT, STREAMLINED GLASS PROFILES
The town hall was designed by PLH Arkitekter in collaboration with ALL and COWI, while Casa was responsible for its construction. DEKO has delivered both DEKO FG and DEKO FG fire-approved fully glazed partitions to the building’s 8 floors, as well as profiles, doors and transoms. DEKO's FG Fire Clear may be seen at the top of the building facing the atrium, while each floor features floor-to-ceiling profiles and acoustic glass. The doors and transoms are incorporated in such a way that they too appear to stretch from floor to ceiling.

DEKO CONSTRUCTION MANAGER, CASPER STJER FERMI-ERICHSEN, EXPLAINS:
– For us, this project has been both extensive and exciting, involving a detailed process to arrive at exactly what the architect and client wanted to achieve. In terms of style, the profiles from DEKO are painted in a special RAL colour, 7021, which is a dark grey shade. In order to avoid visible cables, we have routed cables for card readers and tablets inside the profiles, providing a streamlined visual expression. You can find our DEKO FG fully glazed partitions on every floor, most numerously on the first floor. On the other hand, there are more fire-approved partitions on the other floors.” He continues:
– All the offices and meeting rooms in the new town hall have glass partitions. Some have subsequently had foil applied to them to provide partial matting or decoration. Here we’re talking about 17 mm acoustic glass with a sound-absorbent foil in between.

FIRE APPROVAL AS AN INTEGRATED SOLUTION
One of the special things about DEKO products is that fire approval comes as an integral, integrated solution, and does not just refer to each individual part. This also applies to external corners, where the glass panels are beautifully mitred to butt against each other at an angle of 45 degrees.

A PRACTICAL CHALLENGE IN THE BUILDING'S HEIGHT
DEKO supplied the town hall with approximately 750 m² of acoustic glass partitions and 300 m² of fire-approved partitions, as well as doors, profiles and transoms. The business manager adds that it was a real practical challenge to hoist the many partitions up through all the floors. The partitions were hoisted up from the outside via the roof terrace using a mobile crane and Smartlift, which sucks onto the glass. A further mobile crane was used to hoist up the partitions on the atrium side.
