The New Furesoe Town Hall
‘Sloejfen’ [English: The Bow] is the name of Furesoe Municipality’s new Town Hall. The name was chosen because the building ties the old Town Hall in Vaerloese to a new wing, thereby forming a bow. Today the 6,200-m? building forms the setting for the working lives of approximately 330 municipal employees, whilst also serving as a building for citizens and associations.
In the context of expanding the town hall, DEKO carried out all the interior carpentry, which included sound-reducing and fire-classified partitions, glazed guards, glazed and timber doors, oak-veneer folding partitions, gypsum partitions and gypsum flooring structures, oak-veneer acoustic panel wall cladding, ceilings and custom-designed felt slatted ceilings.

A focus on accessibility and good indoor climate

The ambition was to create a town hall that would be accessible to both citizens and employees, in which the users’ comfort and overall experience of the inner climate were top priority. So great demands were placed on light and sound conditions to achieve good acoustics in rooms with light from both sides.

Acoustic-regulating panels and ceilings create a warm ambience and good sound

One of the ways we accommodated the demand for good acoustics was to install oak-veneer acoustic slats on most of the partitions/panels facing offices, the atrium, the council chamber and the canteen. The large wall dividing the council chamber and the canteen has been designed with feature timber slats and the matching, veneer-clad folding partitions provide flexibility to have either two high performance rooms or a single, multi-functional space. The natural timber finish lends a warmth to the space and contributes to the exceptional acoustic ratings achieved. DEKO also installed special sound absorbing, felt, slatted ceilings in the atrium and conference room, which are an attractive match for the oak-veneer acoustic slats on the partitions. The acoustic-slatted cladding on the ceiling and panels makes an architectural statement, which invests the building with its own special identity.

Light, open and positive working environment with glazed partitions

The citizen-oriented services are located at ground-floor level and designed with a layout that enables staff to meet with citizens in the most direct and informal way, and an open atrium with a huge skylight in the centre. From here there is direct access to all meeting rooms, which are constructed as boxes with soundproof DEKO FG fully glazed partitions and soundproof timber doors, which look great alongside the oak-veneer acoustic panels. The glazed partitions mean that the working areas are open with light from both sides, making it easy to find your way around. The glass for the council chamber is constructed using DEKO FG Fire glazed partitions with an extra high level of sound reduction.

The office areas on the 1st floor consist of open-planned offices with meeting rooms and workspaces, for which we used DEKO FG glazed sections with several types of glazed doors. The large number of interior glazed sections and partitions allow the light to be recycled in several spaces and create transparency across the working areas.
